Left Eye vs Right Eye and Reading

A very interesting article here on an unusual phenomenon noticed by researchers. Individuals who are left eye dominant but right handed have improved visual recognition speed and reading speed when text is placed on the left side of a screen. Right eye dominant individuals who are right handed have no such increase when text is placed on the right hand side of a screen. That is, there seems to be some difference in visual recognition speed of letters if the dominant hand and dominant eye are operating in different hemispheres of the brain.

As someone who is a natural amby, this is very interesting to me. I am left eye dominant. I notice of course that I have a tendency to read with text more oriented to the left of my body - and since I write with my right hand primarily, this would make sense. However, when typing, my leading hand is most certainly my left hand, and I notice I tend to type with text in the center of the screen. Very interesting. I would love to see this experiment repeated with all lefties, or with a mix of left right and amby.

Woot!
Increased visual acuity for left side heavy interfaces is nifty.

My right eye is a lazy git, I'm right handed, and I have the best eyesight among my friends.
