A Different Sort of Orchard
Hello, once again from Athens. I thought I should update everyone on how things are, since some of you are asking (grin).
Well... Athens is a strange strange place. I'm really not sure how well I fit in up here, in truth. It may be that I have yet to find the place where I belong on campus, but so far, I find myself really missing the comforts of GSU. For one.. there seems to be no Goth Tree. No one place where those I would hang out with would congrigate between classes, no pocket of smokers and drinkers dressed in black and leather. In fact, the whole school is ... very very preppy or hippy. It's very depressing in its way. Half these people wouldnt know a good beer if it bit them.
Too, I feel strangely out of place in the department. How gifted the GSU dept is to have people like Almeder, Kenny, and Woodhouse... and not be stoggy and close minded. Though I do say one thing - the precentage of female professors is much better here! 2 of three this semester! And one teaching German philosophers (^^).
Perhaps I will find the Goth Tree here, where the strange fruit (I'm sorry, bad bad bad) which I have as friends may be found to propigate in their own strain here.
Btw...
NASA Earned its budget for these pics as far as I'm concerned. How would you like to look out your window and see this ?

Umm... or maybe not. As I've mentioned, looking at UGA's J-School website, the folks there look a bit pale in comparison to Ga. State.
You should meet my friend Courtney. I'm not sure exactly how I'll get a chance to introduce y'all, but y'all have at least a few things in common.
